Yesterday I was watching a reality show 'airtel
super singer junior'.Various thoughts crossed my mind.
These little children were enjoying so much celebrity
status at such an young age. Nothing wrong about it. But
somehow I got a feeling that they must be definitely missing
their childhood. Not only that, after enjoying such a celebrity
status at such an young age, incase if they may not be able
to maintain it, how could they cope with that? Must be extremely
difficult for them. And the judges of these reality shows...... when
i place myself in the position of participants the immediate feeling
i get is ' how could I allow anyone to judge me or my talents'.
maybe thats y i've never been able to fit into this system and
always been a rebel. I never allow myself to be judged except by me.
Even our society doesn't want to treat anyone as equal as it always
want to play the role of the judge. It won't give u that space of
being a silent spectator.U have to perform and it eill judge. In
other words, either u be a judge or be judged. If u treat anyone
as equal they consider u as a weak personality and immediately they
will try and dominate u. you will never get the space u provide to
others here.If suppose I am an introvert and
a very private person, people will start advicind me/judging me.They
expect that one should change himself so that he can become a
cceptable and pleasant to others. But why should one pretend.
The logic given is u'll be judged and to get a good score (liking)u should
change urself. So where is the space for my individuality.
In other words they doesn't want to accept me for what i am but they
want to shape me to others liking. horrible.......for me.
Not for all. Thats y i find it very difficult to fit in.

DeleteInstead of commenting, I would like to add few more on top of this. The thing mentioned here suits in IT field also. Introverts, as they are not expressive, they just keep doing their task and just share the end result of their work - either complete or pending. But extroverts, they express more of their task (even if it is a smallportion of the whole project). Here comes the difference between who actually love his job and didn't mind about recognition and who actually does less and because of their so called skill(??) gets recognition/promotion. Ok, as a solution to this, what if I find a profession that suits the best to my personality. Here comes the society, under which we are forced to do certain things by compulsion or by fear of losing in life(job, security, marriage, etc). So many of us fear or not allowed to obey our heart, do what we like no matter what it costs us. Finally, life ends as a drama where we are to act, without satisfaction.
ReplyDeleteSecond thing which I noticed is prevailing in almost all schools. The student who gets first rank in academics is always chosen by the teacher for extra curricular activities like drama, dance, sports, etc. It is not necessary that who studies well will excel in all fields. As a teacher, they should find out who is best in what and it is their duty to bring out the best in each of them so that the students can realize their strength and weakness, which is important to direct their life by themselves in the right path where they can excel (It need not essentially be academics alone, after all academics is not everything). I rarely find schools doing such stuff.
As a whole, are we moving in the right direction towards development of humankind or are we generating machines?
murali, i agree with ur comments (eventhough two are missing!!!).In the name of professionalism we just want to manufacture persons with certain kind of traits only. The very essence of mankind, that is every individual is unique gets lost.I also think that it is fear that prevents us from following what our heart says, rather it has become a habit that we always think that the society is preventing us from pursuing certain things. If u analyse it little deep,u will agree that it is our perception of' what the society expects' which prevents us from pursuing our likings.
